Kargil Vijay Divas Celebration
On 22ndJuly, Rotary club of Pune Shivajinagar in association with Modern College Pune 5, celebrated Kargil Vijay Divas. The celebration aimed at creating awareness among students about the sacrifice by the soldiers while protecting the country , foster national spirit and guide the students desirous of joining army regarding entrance examinations.
Group Capt Abhijit Khedkar and Group Captain (Air Veteran) Nitin Welde were the Chief guest and Guest of Honor respectively. President of Rotary club of Pune Shivajinagar gave opening remarks. Dr. Bharati saluted bravery, patience and spirit of nationalism of the Indian army.She expressed gratitude towards the Indian army and appealed to the students to be good citizens and be worthy of their sacrifice. Dr. Zoonazarrao , Principal Modern College urged the students to follow correct role models and make maximum use of the opportunities available.
Group Capt Abhijit Khedkar gave guidance and practical tips for preparing for the entrance tests for joining army and cracking the interview. Captain (Air Veteran) Nitin Welde shared his chilling experience of Kargil War. He threw light on the changes in the defense system after the Kargil War. He opined that defense system will be more and more technology oriented.
At the end of the program, Rotary Youth Leadership awards were given to the students showing exemplary leadership skills.
Spouse Prof. Ashok Kamble, New generation team and July support group ensured smooth conduct of the program. The heart touching program was beautifully compared by Rotarian Reshma Kulkarni. Students, especially NCC students were very much inspired by the program. The program left the audience overwhelmed.
