Empowering Tomorrow: Rotary's Commitment to Youth Service Back
As we enter the month of May, designated as Youth Service month in Rotary, let's envision the young generation as the architects of a brighter future for humanity. Harnessing their potential during their formative years is paramount in nurturing them into diligence and insightful individuals.

Recognizing youth as the torchbearers of tomorrow, Rotary International's commitment to youth dates back to 1949 when the slogan "Every Rotarian an Example to Youth" was adopted. This commitment remains steadfast, with Rotary clubs worldwide engaging in a myriad of youth service projects.

These projects span a wide spectrum, encompassing initiatives such as sponsoring Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops, fostering athletic teams, supporting centers for disabled children, and organizing educational programs on safety and health. Additionally, Rotary clubs play a pivotal role in offering vocational guidance, facilitating youth employment opportunities, and promoting ethical standards through initiatives like The 4-Way Test.

By serving as mentors and role models, Rotarians instill in youth the spirit of service and leadership. As these young individuals mature into future leaders, it is our collective aspiration that they too embrace the ethos of serving their communities and future generations.

Rotarians are entrusted with the responsibility of equipping the New Generations—youth up to the age of 30—with essential life skills and values, thereby fostering a more promising future. Projects aimed at addressing the fundamental needs of youth, including health, education and self-development, are encouraged at both club and district levels.

Youth Programs not only provide avenues for cultural exchange but also serve as platforms for Rotarians to hone their leadership and communication skills. The Rotary New Generations Student Exchange program, in particular, endeavors to cultivate global leaders who champion peace and justice.

In light of contemporary challenges faced by youth, such as peer pressure, social media stressors and mental health issues, Rotary remains committed to providing support and guidance.

As we embark on this journey, let us leverage designated months to amplify our efforts in youth development. Together, let's reaffirm our pledge to empower and uplift the younger generation, thereby fostering a world that is more compassionate, inclusive and equitable for all.
