Rotary Club of Pune Uptown has done pioneer work in the field of Adult Education and E-learning facilities. It regularly undertakes the project of 'Healthy Tiny Feet’ along with Rotary Club of Miami Airport whereby shoes are distributed to primary school children in rural areas. It is indeed a feeling of 'Great Satisfaction' to experience the joy in the eyes of children who get these shoes. Every year a bus load of needy people is brought from remote rural areas to do Cataract Operations on them under the project 'Gift of Sight' These operations are carried out at K.K. Hospital Pune. In collaboration with Sassoon Hospital Uptowners have made great progress in getting pumps to collect 'Human Milk' for needy infants. Active role has been taken in the distribution of 'Reusable Sanitary Pads' to rural women, young school and college girls under the project 'Go Green'. Uptown has taken the initiative in promoting the DEI projects by creating exemplary short films on integration of 'the Third Gender' into common stream. Major CSR project taken up by Uptown is on Eye Sight in school children, which involves from getting the eyes tested, distribution of spectacles if advised to the rural children and support with operation if needed. Uptown regularly gives 'Chirag Award' to a competent blind person who has done exemplary work in uplifting other visually impaired persons.
