Rejuvenating Borewells: Rotary Club of Pune Gandhi Bhavan's Innovative Water Solution Back

The Rotary Club of Pune Gandhi Bhavan (RCPGB) has successfully completed a transformative project aimed at rejuvenating and extending the yield of borewells in the water-scarce villages of Purandar and Bhor Taluka in Pune district. Utilizing the innovative BoreCharger technology, this project scanned entire wells and tapped into previously untapped aquifers to significantly increase water sources for recharge.

A total of 40 borewells with low yield were revitalized, including 30 borewells belonging to marginalized farmers in Dhangwadi village in Bhor and 10 public use borewells in Purandar. This initiative promises to benefit 30 farming families in Dhangwadi and provide much-needed water resources to schools and the public in Purandar.

The rejuvenation of these borewells is expected to ensure extended water availability, which will, in turn, boost crop yield and enhance agricultural productivity in the coming year. The farmers are eagerly anticipating the positive impact this project will have on their livelihoods.

RCPGB extends heartfelt thanks to Urdhvam Technologies for their patented BoreCharger technology and their crucial role in implementing the project. The total cost of this project was INR 12 lakh (approximately $14,500), generously sponsored by Save Indian Farmers NJ USA and Fidel Softech Ltd, Pune.

This project stands as a testament to the power of innovation and collaboration in addressing critical water scarcity issues and supporting sustainable agriculture in rural communities. The Project Director Rtn. Sunil Barve executed this Project very well with the support of President Rtn. Girish Mathkar.
