The Rotary District 3131 organized the Winter Cup Premier League Cricket tournament in Pune on January 6th, 7th, 13th, and 14th, 2024. Six teams, featuring players from various parts of the district, including a team of physically challenged players, participated in this exciting cricket event. The tournament took place at Scale-Up Cricket Academy in Warje, from 8 am to 5 pm each day, featuring two matches per day with each side playing 20 overs.
The event witnessed a fantastic blend of Rotarians and Non-Rotarians coming together to celebrate the spirit of cricket. In an impressive display of sportsmanship, Pune Satellite Club emerged victorious, clinching the championship title by defeating Lavasa Royals in the final match.
Mahesh Ghorpade, the captain of the winning Pune Satellite Club, graciously accepted the prize distribution on behalf of his team. The successful organization of the tournament was credited to Rtn. Shashank Phadke, the sports director of Rotary District 3131, who played a pivotal role in making the event a grand success. The Winter Cup Premier League not only showcased competitive cricket but also emphasized the inclusivity and camaraderie that Rotary events bring to the community.
