A Visit to the Earth Charitable Foundation, MH 14 Animal Hospital- a shelter for animals
It is said that compassion for animals is intimately connected with goodness of character. The members of the Community Based Interact Club of Poona Downtown displayed this virtue to the fullest as they participated in a project that involved caring for the uncared for and speaking up for their voiceless furry companions.
The members visited the Earth Charitable Foundation, MH 14 Animal Hospital in Wakad on 7th December. This is an NGO that rescues and rehabilitates stray animals in need.
Upon reaching the faculty, the children were welcomed by Chikki whose lower half is paralysed. She amazed the children with her cheerful and friendly demeanour inspite of being in constant pain.
The Interactors were given a short tour of the place and introduced to all the animals while being provided with details of the problems each animal faced. Later, the team was divided into groups based on their area of interest – social media, painting, and cleaning, general assistance.
The social media team of the Interactors came up with the excellent idea of creating short reels to share the success stories of the rescued and cured animals so as to spread awareness about the centre and its cause. Small interactions with the animals were recorded with the intention of uploading the edited clips on the social media platforms.
Other Interactors helped to paint the cages and complete odd jobs like cutting strips of cloth and sorting medication while swapping entertaining and heart warming stories about interactions with their furry friends.
Chartered in July 2021, in the midst of the COVID 19 Pandemic, this Interact Club was the first Community based Interact club of District 3131.This team of silent and dedicated workers are building strong relationships in different communities and acting as young brand ambassadors for Interact and Rotary by extension.
This team of young Interactors is making its Parent Club of Poona Downtown proud knowing that they have truly imbibed the spirit of service above self!
