Rotary Dialysis Centre at Symbiosis University Hospital, Lavale benefitting thousands of needy patients
Back
Symbiosis University Hospital & Research Centre (SUHRC), based on their dialysis patient experiences and facilities, requested Rotary to provide 12 dialysis machines at SUHRC and set up the Rotary Dialysis Centre. Rotary Club Pune Sports City was able to put together its largest global grant of $85,000, funded by a wide variety of donors, which included 4 Rotary International Districts (RID 3131, 3132, 3141 3170), International Rotary partner Rotary Club Culver City (USA), non-Rotarian contributor Dr Ramakrishna Rao, CSR partner Hodek Vibration Technologies and Pune Sports City Trust and several club Rotarians.
This initiative enables Rotary and symbiosis to provide free dialysis treatment to the ever-growing chronic kidney disease failure patients (with waiting list) and will help in increasing number of dialysis treatments from 600 per month to 1800 per month. This will also ensure that all underserved patients qualifying under the city, state or central government health schemes will get free treatment. This will enable over 21,000 dialysis treatments annually, serving thousands of underserved beneficiaries around Pune and rural surroundings for years to come.
Symbiosis University Hospital deserves special mention for giving Rotary the opportunity to serve the needy. Thanks to all the partners who made this humanitarian project possible!
