A Year of Outstanding Achievements in the Rotary Green Society Project by Rtn. Keshav Tamhankar Back

Amazing! That's the one word that describes our last Rotary year. It was a year of record-breaking performances across membership, foundation and many other avenues. Among our notable successes, the Green Society Project stands out.

As the director, I am extremely happy and satisfied with all our achievements throughout the year. It was truly a “Wow” time. We reached over 5000 societies and MSMEs, conducted 6 one-on-one awareness sessions for 500+ societies and awarded the Rotary Green Society Award to 25 housing societies and 5 MSMEs. We also organized EcoSchool and GreenBox competitions for school and college students, achieved wide publicity in local newspapers and social media, published newsletters and enjoyed the participation of 16 Rotary clubs in the project.

The highlight was our grand Rotary Green Expo—a confluence of government, NGOs, climate experts and green suppliers. The expo featured a grand inauguration, a large exhibition, an awards program and insightful talks from sustainability experts. Attracting over 2000 visitors, including industry leaders, Rotarians, environmentalists, government officials and the public, the expo showcased 45 exhibitors specializing in solar systems, rainwater harvesting, STP for small societies, composting machines, e-waste management, plants, organic food, recycled products, smokeless stoves and more. It was an unprecedented event in Rotary District 3131 history.

I express my heartfelt appreciation and gratitude for the opportunity given by our DG Manjoo to be a part of Rotary’s Green Society Project. I am grateful to our DG for showing confidence in my ability to lead this project. Under her visionary guidance and constant encouragement, we achieved milestones that seemed ambitious at the outset. Her leadership and dedication to promoting the Green Society Project have inspired not only me but the entire team to work tirelessly towards our common goal of a greener, healthier world. We are glad to have met her expectations.

I am extremely proud of my team, which includes the district team, founders clubs, host clubs, synergy clubs and several Rotarians. Their exceptional work, professionalism, enthusiasm and willingness to go above and beyond have not only contributed to the project's success but have also set a benchmark for excellence. The commitment, teamwork, and tireless efforts demonstrated by each member have been truly inspiring.

Their strategic planning, seamless execution and unwavering support have been instrumental in bringing our collective vision to fruition. The positive impact this project has had on our community is a testament to their hard work and passion.
