The Rotary Club of Poona Airport recently organized a groundbreaking fundraiser titled "Dil Hai Chota Sa Choti Se Asha." The event aimed to raise funds to support infants and children suffering from congenital heart disease (CHD), also known as a hole in the heart. This fundraiser was particularly notable as it was the first of its kind ever held in Rotary District 3131.
The evening featured mesmerizing Odissi dance performances by internationally renowned artists. These performances were designed to artistically illustrate the ethical and non-ethical actions of human nature. The entire program drew from Indian mythology, aligning these ancient stories with the seven directives of Rotary namely peace, health, environment, sanitation, literacy, medical care and community, thereby creating a profound and engaging experience for the attendees.
The fundraiser attracted a diverse audience, with over 225 donors, dignitaries, and non-Rotarians in attendance. DG Manjoo Phadke and DG Elect Shital Shah was among the dignitaries present. The highlight of the evening was the presentation of a cheque worth 31.5 lakh rupees to a hospital committed to performing life-saving surgeries free of cost for children with CHD. This generous donation will enable the hospital to save 21 young lives, bringing immense joy and relief to their families and relatives.
The Rotary Club of Poona Airport's initiative not only underscored the power of art in conveying significant messages but also showcased the community's dedication to making a real difference in the lives of children with heart conditions. The success of "Dil Hai Chota Sa Choti Se Asha" stands as a testament to the club's innovative approach to fundraising and its unwavering commitment to “service above self”.
