In a transformative initiative to address water scarcity, the Rotary Club Pune Westside has successfully completed the "Jalkund" project in Velvand village, Bhor District. This project, benefiting 450 individuals (300 humans and 150 cattle), stands as a testament to the club’s dedication to community service and sustainable development.
A new water tank with a capacity of 12,000 liters has been constructed, and a 2-kilometer pipeline has been installed from the tank to the village. The project also includes four outlets (taps) strategically placed throughout the village. This initiative has significantly eased the daily burden of fetching water from a ravine 2 kilometers away, greatly improving the quality of life for the villagers.
The villagers of Velvand are immensely grateful for this project, which has not only saved them time and effort but also provided a reliable water source for their daily needs and livestock. The Jalkund project has made a lasting impact on the community, fostering health, convenience, and sustainability.
This project exemplifies Rotary Club Pune Westside’s commitment to addressing critical community needs and enhancing the well-being of the local population.
