The one-of-a-kind movie SHRIKANTH, based on a real-life success story, received appreciation from Blind Federation members. On Saturday noon, the Rotary Club of Pune University Charitable Trust and the National Federation of the Blind organized a special screening of the film at City Pride Multiplex, Satara Road.
The film screening was special in many ways. The film is based on a blind person's life and the audience, special invitees, were from the blind community. The movie viewing experience was enhanced by the use of the NobaFlex app. This app, when connected with headphones through a cell phone, gives real-time descriptions to the user, thus making it a better and richer experience.
Dr. Deepak Shikarpur, who helped curate this program, was present and expressed his thoughts during the event. Recently, a few of his books have been made available in Braille as well. Smt. Sakina Bedi, coordinator from NFBM, was also present for the screening and was felicitated by Rotary. The movie screening was supported by Fidel Softech and City Pride Multiplex. Rotarians Pramod Gokhale, Dr. Shantanu Deshpande, Gauri Gupte, Mandar Mahajan, and Vishnu Bheda were coordinators of this very special initiative.
