Reflecting on the journey of our District over the past eleven months, I am filled with immense pride and inspiration. As District Governor of RI District 3131, I have witnessed a remarkable transformation. This period has been marked by significant achievements, from initiating impactful community projects to expanding our membership and strengthening our fellowship.
The series "Milestones of the Year" being released on groups truly encapsulates the extraordinary progress we've made, illustrating how, in just eleven months, dedicated efforts can lead to unparalleled success and growth. These milestones not only highlight our achievements but also set a robust foundation for future endeavors, showcasing the power of unity and purpose within our District.
District 3131 recently had the honor of addressing the RYE officers at the Rotary International Convention, marking a moment of pride for our district. Shobha Nahar led a breakout session, while Rtn. Deepak Bodhani had the privilege of conducting a session on May 24th. This significant involvement highlights our district's active engagement and contributions to the global Rotary community. Kudos to everyone involved for their dedication and efforts in making this event a success.
I had the opportunity to attend the farewell program "Sayonara" for all the inbounds of RYE. The experiences shared by these students were simply amazing. I truly salute their confidence and decision-making capacity to leave their comfort zone and enter a completely unknown world. I also salute the complete dedication of the entire team RYE, counselors and host parents for accepting the responsibility of caring for these total strangers in such a delicate age group. All in all, it was a very well-ended year for RYE.
During the year 2023-24, our focus was to reach the younger generation in affluent schools and give them the opportunity to develop leadership skills. This was an effort to initiate the process of starting new Interact clubs. The effort of the District Youth team and Rotary clubs in the district has met with big success as we were able to start 123+ Interact clubs in affluent and unrepresented areas.
Regarding Rotaract Clubs, we have successfully started 22 new Rotaract Clubs. The present strength of Rotaractors in the District is 3173 and is consistently growing. The establishment of these new clubs signifies a commitment to empowering youth and equipping them with the skills and experiences necessary to make positive contributions to their communities and beyond. The guidance and support from Rotarians like Rtn. Mhatre and Rtn. Patil ensured that these clubs will thrive, creating a lasting impact on both the members and the larger community.
Shukrangan is an innovative initiative spearheaded by over 16 Rotary clubs in Pune, all of which hold their weekly meetings on Fridays. This collaborative effort has led to the creation of a unique association that convenes a synergy meeting on the last Friday of every month, bringing together Rotarians for a special occasion. The highlight of these gatherings is the presence of celebrity speakers from across the country who deliver inspiring and informative talks. This initiative has significantly enhanced networking opportunities, facilitated greater assimilation among members and expanded the clubs' reach. Shukrangan stands as a bright, big and bold idea that showcases collaboration, proving successful connectivity and community spirit among Pune's Rotary clubs.
The concept of the District Resource Trainer (DRT) to impart Rotary information through innovative board games like Vyapar, Snakes & Ladders, Tombola and a musical KBC was an extraordinary effort by the district secretariat. I feel privileged to have introduced such creative and engaging methods of learning. District Secretary Rtn. Vilas Ravande prepared an extensive question bank covering all avenues of Rotary, leading the charge in bringing these board games to most clubs across the district. Additionally, Rtn. Abhijit Gandhi made an outstanding effort in printing the board games and question cards. Thanks to the dedication and hard work of all the DRTs, these educational games were successfully implemented in clubs, enhancing the learning experience for our members.
The Student Counseling Workshop, organized collaboratively by Bharat Vikas Parishad, Rotary Club of Panvel Central and Thakekar Class, concluded with great enthusiasm at Gokhale Auditorium in Panvel city. The workshop saw active participation from 111 students, eager to gain insights and guidance for their academic and personal growth. In addition to the students, the event attracted over 200 attendees, including parents, members of Bharat Vikas Parishad, Rotary and Thakekar Class. The diverse audience reflected the broad support and interest in student counseling and development. The workshop featured a series of interactive sessions, expert talks and group activities designed to address the various challenges faced by students. Topics ranged from academic planning and career guidance to stress management and personal development.
It's heartening to witness the remarkable projects undertaken by the clubs in our district garner significant recognition in Rotary news. This accomplishment is certainly great and reflects the clubs' unwavering commitment to transforming hope into reality. This widespread recognition in Rotary news serves as a powerful motivator, inspiring us to continue pushing boundaries and striving for excellence.
Each project showcased not only reflects the dedication and hard work of our members but also highlights the profound impact we are making in our communities. From initiatives focused on health and education to those aimed at sustainable development and environmental protection, our clubs are addressing critical issues with innovative solutions.
It is indeed heartening to inform you about the commencement of our latest NGSE Virtual Internship Programme in AI Data and Cloud, hosted by Rotary Club Yarmouth RID 7780 USA and organized by DataTech Labs, USA. A BIG THANK YOU to Rtn. Dr. Amit Andre for his initiative, mentorship and assistance. I am happy to announce that the 27 candidates who have joined the Internship Programme are studying at reputed universities in the USA, Germany, Brazil, Haiti and India, with four candidates sponsored by the Rotary Club of Ranchi RID 3250 India. I appreciate the efforts of RC Panvel Central, Pen, Pradhikaran, Nigdi, Khadki, Deccan Gymkhana, Chinchwad and Udyognagari. I am grateful to Rtn. Dr. Amod Divekar of RC Panvel Central for helping us connect with District 7780.
The "Shaksham" Digital Classroom Programme has launched its Shaksham 5.0, organized by the Rotary Club of Pune Far East and funded under the CSR Grant of Suttatti Enterprises. This impactful initiative will equip 119 needy schools with eLearning Kits, marking a significant advancement in educational support. With a total of 505 TV-based eLearning Kits installed, the program is set to benefit 89,431 students, enhancing their conceptual understanding, improving subject-wise scores and reducing absenteeism. This revolutionary step in education aims to provide equal learning opportunities and bridge the educational gap.
Friends, this glorious RI year 2023-24 is about to conclude and the focus naturally shifts to District Annual Awards. Thousands of projects valuing hundreds of crores have been implemented this year and we want to recognize the best projects of the year at a grand final event. The District Awards Committee is fully committed to supporting all clubs to bring glory to each club and your year because we want YOU to win!
